Scuba Certification Course (SSI – Scuba Schools International)

Open Water Scuba Certification is your passport to a whole new and exciting world of adventure.  With proper training you are free to explore the underwater world or planet Oceana (Earth). The SSI Open Water Course consists of Classroom, Pool, and Open Water Training. Program fee includes certified SSI Instructor, educational material, pool sessions and 5 dives in local lake and quarries. Participants must be at least 12 years of age.  Please note, in addition to the course cost, each participant must either purchase or own the following items: mask, snorkel, fins, wet suit boots and mouthpiece.  (These should not be purchased until after the first class so that all participants can be educated as to the type and quality equipment they will need, approximate cost of additional items starts at $200).  A swimsuit and towel is needed for each class as well.  Classes meet once a week on Tuesdays, 6:00-9:00pm. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

The purpose of this course is to teach Lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond toaquatic emergencies.  The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Upon successful completion of all skills, written & practical tests, participants will receive a Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED., and O2 certifications.  

  • Minimum age 15 on or before the final scheduled class
  • Pass pre-course swim test:  300 yds continuous swim (100 yds front crawl using rhythmic breathing, 100 yds breaststroke, 100 yds either front crawl or breaststroke), surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to surface and swim 20 yards with legs only in 1 minute 40 seconds
  • 100% class attendance and participation
  • Pass both a water skills test and written exam

Guard Start Junior Lifeguard Course

The purpose of this course is learn what it takes to be a lifeguard. Practice some of the skills they have perfected, become CPR certificated and receive your own workbook. 

  • For ages 8-14 on or before the final scheduled class
  • Pass pre-course swim test:  25 yards freestyle, swim 10 yards underwater and tread water for 2 minutes
  • 100% class attendance and participation
  • Pass both CPR skills test and written exam

American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer w/AED and O2 Course

CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and O2 will be taught in its entirety, so current certification is not necessary.
