The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. That's because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities. The YMCA is a charity that is open to everyone where no one is ever turned away. For 150 years, our YMCA has remained relevant to individuals and communities as they change and evolve, while maintaining our core Mission. With a mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all, our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good.
To the Wilkes-Barre YMCA, strengthening people ultimately leads to a stronger, more caring community. People give of their time, talent and financial support to ensure that individuals can have a beneficial and rewarding experience at our Y. By inspiring and involving people, we believe our holistic perspective "in spirit, mind and body" is to be reflected in all we do.
It is the policy of the YMCA to provide financial assistance for any person who desires to participate, regardless of the ability to pay the standard fee Those who are not able to pay the full fee may be awarded partial assistance based on their ability to pay and the YMCA's ability to fund the subsidy. Subsidies will be offered to the extent that funds are available. Application forms are available at the YMCA. Scholarship funds are made possible through the generous gifts of individuals, local businesses, and the United Way.
